Directions of activity
Basic directions of activity of laboratory – development of theoretical bases of the analysis and synthesis of the distributed
information transmission networks and practical implementation of the large-scale projects concerning with distributed computer communication networks.
The theoretical researches are carried in the following directions:
modeling of wireless networks with centralized and decentralized control based on Radio-Ethernet (802.11 IEEE) protocol;
elaboration of the methods and algorithms for analysis of multimedia communications in a packet-switched network (on example of investigation of IP-telephony and videoconferences);
development and investigation of wireless networks based on infrared modems;
synthesis of topology of the developing distributed information computer networks;
development of methods and algorithms for gateway connection of the heterogeneous computer networks;
development of the priority routing algorithms for packet-switched networks and ATM-networks;
analytical and simulation methods of the network protocols research and optimization.
MAIN RESULTS
In 1999 the fundamental research in the fields of extremal graph theory and queuing networks theory are vital. Moreover, the field experiments with various physical media (fiber-optical, radio, satellite communications), operational environments and various network architecture have to be carried on simultaneously.
The Laboratory obtained the following fundamental results:
modeling methods of wireless networks were developed and investigated with centralized and decentralized control based on Radio-Ethernet (802.11 IEEE) protocol;
the methods and algorithms in choosing of IP-telephony parameters have been developed from the queueing network models;
methods and algorithms of gateway connection of heterogeneous information computer networks (conformably to gateway connection for “Sirena” and “Express” networks) were developed and investigated there;
new computer algorithms for the topology synthesis of large-scale information transmission networks were developed as a result of the investigation into K-connected extremal graphs;
methods and algorithms for investigation of reliability of distributed information transmission networks were developed there;
centralized and decentralized techniques for design of mobile network database were investigated. For these techniques it was proposed the method which allows to place SCP at VLR and SSP at HLR in mobile network.
Theoretical results in the field of the analysis and synthesis of the distributed computer information networks serve as a basis for development of the large-scale projects, including the following:
- Development of cellular radiomodem data transmission network in Moscow. The realization of the project enables to create uniform information environment for research, cultural and educational institutions of Moscow.
- Realization of a single system for booking and sale of airline, railway and bus tickets on the basis of the Russian federal mail service offices. The system implementation is of great social significance as it enables to reduce the time of booking airline, rail, and inter-city bus tickets as well as the costs the passengers in Russia have to pay.
IP-telephony were discovered and promoted by adoption the H.323 protocol in the municipal computer network of Obninsk.
Development of instructions to increase reliability of the digital network of AO “ROSTELECOM”.
Development of information transmission networks of the Ministry of Transport of RF, Presidium of RAS, Federal Road Service of RF.
